For the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee (OC), the FIFA World Cup™ must be more than a success, hosting the event must have long-term legacy benefits for South Africa, and in fact Africa. Of course infrastructure and economic legacy is important but a social legacy is just as vital. The 2010 FIFA World Cup will only truly be a success if the youth of South Africa benefit. This is why the work of the ambassadors is so important.

The ambassadors, through their work at coaching clinics around the country, have been focusing on youth development in football. The thinking behind this is that through promoting the 2010 FIFA World Cup and football in general, more youngsters will become players, increasing the pool of talent for the leagues and national team while at the same time providing a constructive pastime for the young people.

It is about improving the lives of the youth through football.

The ambassadors also do great work in helping the OC in promoting both the FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. They assist at many of the OC's events and try and get the youth motivated for the upcoming tournaments. Judging by their work so far the stadiums are going to be filled to capacity.
