AFC

Gamba Osaka booked their place at the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2008 after a 5-0 aggregate win over Adelaide United in the two-legged final of the AFC Champions League. The J.League side won their home leg 3-0 on 5 November and swiftly followed that success with a 2-0 win in Adelaide on 12 November.

CAF

Al Ahly rewrote African football's record books on 16 November by winning an unprecedented sixth CAF Champions League title. The Egyptian giants' 2-2 draw at Coton Sport completed a 4-2 aggregate victory in the final; a result which ensured they will compete at the FIFA Club World Cup for the third time in four years.

UEFA

Manchester United qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup on Wednesday 21 May 2008 after a 6-5 penalty shoot-out win over Chelsea in Moscow, following a 1-1 draw after extra-time.

CONCACAF

Pachuca (MEX) became the first team to qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2008 on Wednesday 30 April 2008 after defeating Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) 3-2 on aggregate.

OFC

New Zealand's Waitakere United qualified for their second successive FIFA Club World Cup by retaining their O-League title, beating Kossa of the Solomon Islands 6-3 on aggregate over two legs played out on 26 April and 11 May.

CONMEBOL

LDU Quito (ECU) will be the South American representative at the FIFA World Club Cup 2008. They qualified by defeating Fluminense (BRA) 3-1 on penalties after a 5-5 aggregate tie in the final of the Copa Libertadores.

AFC Runner-Up

In accordance with the regulations of the the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2008, it was agreed that if a Japanese team won the AFC Champions League, the host representative team would be replaced by the highest placed non-Japanese team from the 2008 edition of the AFC Champions League. Gamba Osaka's triumph in the AFC Champions League final has paved the way for runners-up, Adelaide United, to participate in December's tournament.
